BIRTHDAY WEEK

Apparantly May is the month of love for James and I.  Taylor was born January 3rd and Madelyn was born January 5th. It has been quite the eventful week.  Here's a peek....

TAYLOR:  He turned 14 on Monday.  I'm not sure how that happened.  It seems just yesterday he was a little squirt that said funny one-liners.  Since he only has 30 minutes at school for lunch, I took him Wingers sticky fingers and fries.  They are his absolute favorite.  Then for dinner he chose navajo tacos.  So I made scones and topped them with chili, cheese and sour cream.  He got a snowboarding coat for his birthday.  He's dying to try it out.

On Saturday he invited a few friends and went to a place called "Jump On It".  It's an indoor trampoline arena.  We came back to the house for pizza, soda and cake.  He wanted my homemade ice cream cake.  Chocolate cake, mint chocolate chip ice cream and frosted with cool whip.  We sang to him and he opened presents.
The thing I love best about Taylor is that even though he's 14 he still likes to snuggle.  He is courageous, his sense of humor is whitty, he's handsome and always smells good, he's a good friend, extremely compassionate and is a mama's boy.  I'm so blessed to be his mother!

MADELYN:  She turned 11 on Wednesday.  Again, I'm not sure how that happened either.  I can still picture her chubby cheeks and her blonde little bob.  She has matured 'greatly' in the past year.  She is trapped in a 13 year old body and is loving it.  She is into makeup, her ipod touch and friends.  She got a Rip Stick for her birthday.  She's quite the pro already, zipping around the kitchen and dining room.

She wanted a Cafe Rio salad for lunch on the big day.  Funny thing is she didn't want to go there for lunch, she wanted me to bring it to her so she could eat it with her friends.  For dinner she chose ribs over rice and a green salad.  On Friday we had 10 girls for a swimming party.  Madelyn begged for the birthday room at the pool.   Good thing I know the manager, she gave us the room for the right price - free!  We had pizza, soda and cake (sound familiar).  They were cracking me up as they showered, dressed and did their hair in the locker room.  The take home was silly string.  I love that stuff, it's so fun!  On the way out of the Rec Center there were boys playing basketball.  It was funny and scary, all at once, watching them flirt with these boys.  The things I love best about Madelyn are that she's an amazing friend, she's kind, she likes to help others, cute, smart, she's creative and likes to sew and make homemade things.  I am so grateful she is my daughter.  I love her more than I ever thought possible.
