It's pretty pathetic when I don't remember what the name of my blog is so I can update it. Thank goodness Krista has it on her blog so I can access it. Thanks Krista! That is how life has been lately. Let's see if I can give a 2 month overview in 1 post.
The last day of January was the start of a hard month of February for our family. Taylor was rushed to Primary Children's Hospital and had emergency surgery. Because he's 14, I'll spare the details, let's just say he had some lower abdominal issues that were serious. The next 6 days he was in extreme pain, alternating Lortab and Motrin every 3 hours, 24 hours a day. This is not like him. His pain tolerance is really high. We took him to the emergency room Saturday night, that seemed to relieve the pain.
My sister, Karen, came down from Logan. She brought Taylor balloons and a card. She also brought us all Jamba juice, she cleaned my bathrooms, made us dinner for that night and cinnamon rolls for breakfast the next morning. We loved on Cole. I mean, how can you not be happy with him around? It was a huge burden lifted, a nice change of pace from a hard week emotionally. Sure love her!
Our entire family fasted for Taylor on Sunday and lots of prayers were being said in his, and our, behalf. Humbling, to say the least. We could feel the prayers. I was guided to make phone calls, and was on the phone for hours on end. One call led to another and then to another.
We were not happy with the way Primary's handled things and so I was searching for the best solution for him. My calls led me to a doctor in Denver at The Childrens Hospital that specializes in EB (Epidermolysis Bullosa). He was booked though and couldn't fit Taylor in for another week and a half. On Monday morning I called to see if they'd had any cancellations. There was a huge snowstorm coming in and someone had cancelled for the next morning at 9:00. I told her we'd take it.
We booked Madelyn a ticket to fly to Idaho, since she was off track, and Taylor and I threw some things together and jumped in the car. The roads were snow packed, but the prayers guided us through the storm. I know that sounds so crazy, but I've never felt that so strongly before. We had truck drivers waiting out the storm that told us to not go back on the road. Wasn't an option for us. We made it to Denver around 12:30 that night, safely. We heard later that the road was closed about an hour after we made it through.
The appointment went well the next day, but the doctor had a full day of surgery on Wednesday. Lucky for us he made room for Taylor before his full schedule. Everyone at The Childrens Hospital was so friendly and wanted to help. It was a nice change in attitude. Taylor had surgery again the next morning and, just like that, problem solved. He took a few weeks to fully recover. But more of an energy issue than anything. We believe in miracles and know we witnessed one with Taylor. My family, of course, was amazing with Madelyn. I didn't worry about her, I knew she was in good hands. A huge thank you to my Mom, Dad, Cathy, Krista, Christy, and Teresa. So lucky to have them as MY family! I'm grateful for an amazing support system.
The power of prayer is real. We felt guided through this process. I know our Heavenly Father loves us and wants the best for us.
Onto another topic. Our family has been using Doterra's Essential Oils for a few years now. I haven't shared the benefits with many people because I didn't want to seem "sales-y". I'm over it. We started last week having an open house every Thursday night. The response has been overwhelming.
Taylor has been taking the supplements for about 6 months now and his skin has never looked so good. His nails are even growing in normal. I could go on and on...
I'm able to educate my friends and family on how to help their familys health, naturally. I've taken away an ear infection, staff infection, rashes, burns, inflammation, pneumonia, strep throat, help with asthma, tendonitis, ezcema, ringworm, migraine headaches, depression, arthritis, etc. I have friends now that will call and ask what oil to use for a certain ailment. It's rewarding to know I'm helping others.
Other than that it's the same ol' thing. I actually like "the same ol' thing". I like getting breakfast for my kids, helping them with homework (mostly), driving carpool to school, picking Taylor up from the bus, tucking them in at night. The day in, day out stuff is good. I love being a mom.
