HALLOWEEN

This year Madelyn was a purple crayon and her little bestie, Naomi, was a blue crayon.  This was Madelyn's last year to have a costume parade at school.  My friend, Sarah, and I were talking on the phone the morning of the parade and I told her I didn't want to get out of my jammies.  That sparked an idea.  We walked into the school in our jammies, bathrobes and curlers in our hair. We were the only parents dressed up.  Let's just say that our girls were completely embarrassed by their moms!  Later Madelyn said to me "Mom, curlers, really?"  Her comment still makes me laugh.  It must be so hard being 11 years old.

Taylor wasn't going to dress up (that's a first) but we told him if he's going to go to doors expecting candy, he ought to pull something together.  He ended up wearing a mask he'd made last year.  He went to a Halloween party and then trick or treated a little.

Madelyn went with her friends too.  She came home with sore feet.  We had cheese soup in bread bowls for dinner.  What a beautiful night, it was like we were in California.  The weather could not have been better.  We ran out of candy after an hour and a half so James ran to the store to get more.  When he got back he said that the neighborhood was lined with cars that had come into the neighborhood to trick or treat.  What smart people!  The houses are closer together here in Daybreak.  Kind of annoying, but smart!

The next morning, November 1st, my alarm woke me up with Christmas music.  Really?  Already?
